San Antonio, Texas, April 2008 – The South Texas Black Business Expo (STBBE) celebrated its 2nd anniversary as the largest African American business event to date at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, on April 12th. The Event was also a kick off of the Alamo City Black Chamber of Commerce’s 70th Year Anniversary Celebration. Built around the theme “We Are All About You,” the 2008 STBB Expo featured nearly 100 booths, seminars and presentations during the all day event at the beautiful AT&T Center, home of the four time NBA World Champions, the San Antonio Spurs. Black-owned and Black focused businesses drew an audience of more than 2,000 to the Expo, making it the largest business event for African Americans in San Antonio for the year.

Attendees had the opportunity to shop, sample new products, make statewide connections, meet Black business owners, and listen to experts discuss a wide range of topics relating to growing small businesses. “We are pleased to announce that this year’s South Texas Black Business Expo at the AT&T Center, certainly surpassed our goals,” said Leo Gomez, VP of External Affairs for Spurs Sports & Entertainment and this year’s STBBE Chairman. “This year’s blend of activities and services that promoted business, networking, and consortium building, demonstrated the diverse opportunities for collaboration in San Antonio and South Texas.”

“The South Texas Black Business Expo remains the most popular business event for Black Business owners and entities interested in tapping into the very lucrative African American market throughout the area. Attendees sampled new products,
talked one-on-one with Black business owners and corporate representatives, and learned more about important business topics – all under a single roof. We are excited about the future of this event.”

“Moving forward, our goals for the South Texas Black Business Expo are to provide busy business owners a chance to enjoy a day out with their friends or families in a relaxing setting, in addition to meeting new business prospects and acquiring more business knowledge,” Gwendolyn Robinson, Executive Director explained. “We will continue to expand and provide access to business resources and cutting edge opportunities to succeed. As the City of San Antonio continues to explode with growth, the need for diverse networking opportunities grows as well. The Alamo City Black Chamber of Commerce will continue to develop and nurture those opportunities through the South Texas Black Business Expo.”
